Welcome to the another episode of Mood Scent 4 where the fragrant team of Portia from A Bottled Rose, L’Esperessence, I Scent You A Day and Megan In Sainte Maxime are your selectors for perfumes for various occasions. This time around we are focusing on Al Fresco Party Perfumes fragrances.
I’m thinking of summer BBQs and outdoor festivities that meander into the evening. Maybe you’re at the beach or perhaps you’re in a garden or just hanging out in the backyard or on the balcony or rooftop with friends and having a few cocktails of your choice. The music is popping and the food is sizzling. You’re looking for something that’s going to cut through the atmosphere and set you up for the day or night.
So my party lineup for this month is :
Le Maroc Pour Elle : Tauer Perfumes : Andy Tauer: 2005
This perfume is a fragrant heady, narcotically psychadelic bloom of jasmine, patchouli and rose. Le Maroc Pour Elle is a fragrance that you can wear to an outdoors party if you’re feeling fairly confident and want to leave a mark on the proceedings. The signature is bold and by the way it’s the first fragrance in the Tauer collection too. For those with a Bohemian leaning with a kinky bent, then this is the one for you. Guests will definitely smell this scent as it is very strong and leaves a trail. You can read a long form version of the scent on the blog here.

Vetiver : Hiram Green : 2021
Vetiver is a new natural fragrance from Hiram Green and is a great take on this material. It is a warm fragrance and will suit the outdoor festivities, keeping things alive and helping to ward off the evening chill as the party goes on. I enjoy the scent of the natural material but if it’s the main component in a fragrance, I generally will not choose to wear it. In a perfume, vetiver can be very musty for me unless there is a lot of sparkling citrus to ward this off. Due to the historical use of the material in traditional masculine fragrances, we do tend to associate vetiver dominant fragrances with males. Vetiver the fragrance for me does err more masculine but I really think this is all in my head due to the historical associations as it is actually a very pleasant wear and I do have respect for its form. There is a nice tint of ginger in the scent and citrus up front which appeals to me and in no way does it become too heavy, musty or damp smelling. For those of you who don’t embrace sweetness in a scent, rest assured that this is a toned vetiver with no fluff on its torso and with a healthy mix of light and dark tonality.
Bukhara : Gallivant : Ralf Schwieger : 2020
Each perfume in the Gallivant collection is inspired by travels. Bukhara is a city in Uzbekistan that was one of the trading points on the silk road. The images of the architecture look incredible and are filling me with that inescapable urge to travel even if its only through the internet at the moment. This is one of my favourites in the Gallivant line and with its focus on orris with a powdery slight fruity sweetness underscored by a light woody base it is the perfect choice for a day or evening al fresco party. This scent is not too heavy or light so really strikes a great note.
So that’s a wrap for this edition of Mood Scent 4. Thank you so much for stopping by and please make sure to read my fellow Mood Scent 4 group writers : Portia at A Bottled Rose, Samantha on I Scent You A Day and Esperanza on L’Esperessence.

Hey Megan!
Bukhara and Vetiver are calling my name hard. Can’t wait to get my sniff on them.
Le Maroc Pour Elle is a super glam al fresco party spritz! One day we’ll go partying and you can knock them all dead with it. YUM!

HI Portia! Yes one day we’ll be able to wear some fragrances and party. The new Hiram is nice and smooth and I think from memory the Bukhara is my favourite from Gallivant. xx

Bukhara is the only one I don’t own yet, but it’s on the list.

Hi Megan,
Great line up for partying. I love Bukhara too and can imagine it is great for outside festivities. Haven’t tried Hirams Vetiver but you really made me curious to sample this scent. I am not too fond of Vetiver centric fragrances either Although I love Keiko Mecheri Vetiver Velours by Yann Vasnier.

I love your Le Maroc Pour Elle suggestion, one of my fave Tauer perfumes and I think it would be glam for a party. I attended an outdoor wedding yesterday, wish I had thought to wear it! I wore very pretty Maison Violet Pourpre d’Automne.

Hi Kathleen, it’s one of my favourites from Tauer too and his first fragrance for the line and I brought it out this summer and have worn it a lot. The violet scent would be a great choice for a wedding though. ⚡️
