Welcome to another edition of Mood Scent 4, where the fragrant team of Australian Perfume Junkies, L’Esperessence and I Scent You A Day are your selectors for perfumes for various occasions. Today we are taking a peek under the duvet and choosing the perfumes for when you just want to stay in bed (or on the couch) and snuggle down.
It’s a bit of a luxury to be able to stay in bed and hunker down. Here in France it’s not yet time for the wintery snooze when the days are too miserable to get up. It does feel that the time is approaching when you might want to stay in bed a little longer though. So the list that I’ve come up with are perfumes that are great for a lie down. Maybe you’re watching HBO’s Succession like I am. It’s such a cracker of a show, modelled on the Murdochs, Redstones and no doubt a whiff of the Trumps too. It’s rather humorous, with just the right mix of satire, drama and comedy.
Whether you’re reading, working, watching or doing other things … whatever the mood is when you’re under the duvet these perfumes will see you through. Please read my fellow Mood Scent 4 group writers : Samantha on I Scent You A Day, Esperanza on L’Esperessence and Portia at Australian Perfume Junkies for their take on today’s topic.
Remember Me : Jovoy : Cécile Zarokian : 2018
This is one of the perfumes that was top of mind for this edition. Remember Me is one of my favourite fragrances made by Cécile Zarokian and it has the effect of a milky chai tea, overdosed with cardamom. The fragrance smells absolutely delicious and yes you will want to drink something just like this. The effect is transparent though, so you’re not drowning in it. Remember Me was one of my most worn perfumes last year and I believe it will be sprayed frequently as the weather turns.
Precious Woods : April Aromatics : Tanja Bochnig : 2012
Precious Woods is as the name suggests, a fragrance with woods to the fore including sandalwood, pine and cedar. This scent conjures the last rays of late afternoon sun streaming through the window and is potent and absolutely seductive too. I find it a mix of the great outdoors but with a sensual vibe too so seems perfect for under the duvet. There is a definite wintery sheen to Precious Woods and I’m pretty sure it will heat things up a little.
Vanille Tonka : Nicolai : Patricia Nicolai : Year ?
One of my all time favourite vanilla perfumes, this is a spicy and smoothly sweet fragrance with a difference. Vanille Tonka smells totally luxurious with florals, especially a dose of orange blossom. There is also a flicker of incense in here that is to die for, accompanied by a heady mix of vanilla and tonka. This is my favourite Nicolai fragrance and I love that they do a 30ml bottle. Vanille Tonka is a sensual, sexy fragrance that would definitely go down well under the duvet. I was lucky enough to visit the head office and have a tour – you can check out my report here.
Pomelo Riviera : Atelier Des Ors : Marie Salamagne : 2019
This is a bright, vivacious scent with a juicy pomelo and a sea swept vibe. If I’m having a duvet day this will remind me that there is world of sunshine outside. Pomelo Riviera never fails to bring a smile and an uplift in the mood with subtle floral sketches of rose, jasmine and orange blossom. Plus the bottle is picturesque in shades of blue so I feel that this adds to the mood uplift as it’s rather lovely to look at. I work with Atelier Des Ors so of course am more than biased but this scent fits my duvet mood perfectly.
Feu de Bois Candle : Diptyque
The scent of a great candle when you’re under the duvet is a must have, especially in the winter months. Diptyque may not actually make the most diffusive candles but they do have some incredible scents in their range. Feu de Bois is a firm favourite when things turn Brothers Grimm in winter. This is a great candle if you don’t have a fire at home, as it’s a pseudo replacement. It has a woody and smoky scent and is highly addictive. It can really help to set the scene and gets the big thumbs up from me.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this month’s edition of Mood Scent 4 and let us know your favourite duvet fragrances too. Remember to click through to I Scent You A Day, L’Esperessence and Australian Perfume Junkies.

Fantastic choices Megan, and what a good idea to include a candle! I’ve started making my own, but that’s another story.. I absolutely love the Atelier des Ors Pomelo Riviera. unlike a lot of zesty scents, it actually stays put for ages. I wore it loads in summer but it’s also good in a hot stuffy room when it’s too cold to open the windows.
I always love seeing what you write because it’s always a surprise. isn’t it fun how we write on the same theme and yet never duplicate?

Hi Sam. Oh you have to tell us how you’re making candles. You clever woman. I wore Pomelo Riviera a lot and spritzed it in summer especially in confined spaces. I’m glad you like it too. Right I now need to head over and check out yours as it’s been a crazy day. xxx Megan

Hey Megan,
OOOH! You picked Vanilla Tonka! What a fabulous scent. Remember when it was being DCd and we all went bonkers buying it up? So much so that it ended up staying in the line.
Pomelo Riviera would brighten even the darkest days, and that bottle is 2DIE4. Absolutely arresting blue.

Always great to read your different takes, Megan. I haven’t tried any of these, but they all sound perfect. I’ve been using Frederic Malle Eau de Magnolia to temper the heat we’re having here in Johannesburg.
