Hello dear readers I wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. One in which you can follow some of your dreams and also enjoy the moment.
2019 really rolled around so quickly and I do hope there were good moments in there for you.
One of my favourite musicians is Cat Power (Chan Marshall) and not only did she release a new album (Wanderer) this year but I finally ticked something off my bucket list and managed to see her live in Milan. This was a highlight of 2018 for me. Her voice is so good recorded but live it’s even better. The venue was not too large, but that ideal size when even I could see the stage, and the audience was hanging on to her every word. She manages to convey emotion in such an intimate way and I’ve listened to her music for many years now and it was just perfect.
Here’s a track Cat Power released before the end of the year, a cover of Burt Bacharach‘s classic What the World Needs Now Is Love. This is by no means her best recording and perhaps not the best introduction to her music, but I really like the hopeful message that still has resonance as we transition into the new year.
Let’s hope there’s more kindness around in 2019.

I love how you upload tracks and introduce some of us to artists we may not know! Thank you! She has a lovely voice, and I’m going to search out more of her music. Happy 2019! May it bring hope…. and in another year, change.
