Pitti Fragranze Here I Come

Hello fragrance lovers. I will be at Pitti Fragranze, in Florence this week to smell perfumes and meet the people involved  – the creators, brand owners and the teams. I’m also looking forward to catching up with people I met in Milan at Esxence back in March. And it goes without saying that one of the main reasons I want to go is the city itself. I can’t wait to see the wonderful sights that Florence has to offer and experience a few days there. It’s been ten years since my last visit and I’ve wanted to return ever since. The city is small and characterised by cobbled streets, jaw dropping architecture and bountiful art. The locals like to promenade in the evenings in their Italian finery which was also fun to watch.

This will be my first Pitti Fragranze, and after my Esxence experiences I am more realistic in my expectations of what I will be able to cover. I have highlighted a few ‘must sees’ on the exhibitor list and that already numbered 65 so I already know I’m probably kidding myself. I’ll give it a shot though.

The theme of this year’s Pitti Fragranze is ‘A Kaleidoscope Of Scents‘ and I imagine it will be a beautiful visual experience as well as an olfactory delight.  There are also various sessions to attend at the exhibition and on my list are :

  • The West Coast Vs. Europe: Market Scenarios. A dialogue between perfume stores in LA ( Lucky Scent) and Paris (Jovoy) on Friday 11th September,  3.30pm – 4.30pm. The participants are Adam Eastwood and Franco Wright (Lucky Scent) and Francois Henin (Jovoy).  Chandler Burr also features in this session. I’m really interested to see what these experts have to say about trends and the differences in their respective markets.
  • The French fragrance company MANE will take us through natural and synthetic components on Friday 11th September, 12pm – 1pm.
  • Chandler Burr’s art installation entitled, “OGGETTI D’ARTE. Forma, Colore,  Profumo” – Art Objects. Form, Color Fragrance. For more information please click through here.

I will attempt to do a small update or at least some photos each day. However at Esxence that proved nearly impossible as wi-fi was woeful at the event and my hotel’s internet was akin to good old fashioned dial-up.  So no promises, but hopefully everything will work more smoothly this time around. I’ll also be doing a Pitti Fragranze round up for Ca Fleure Bon.
