Misterwives are a New York five piece indiepop band who have just released their debut album Our Own House. It’s full of uplifting, pop riddled tracks. Apparently their name is a play on the mormon term ‘sister wife’. They’ve had a bit of fun with it and reversed the gender, so instead of all the mormon wives becoming friends, the girl marries all the guys and they become mates.
With influences from The Police, No Doubt, Aretha Franklin and The Jackson Five the whole album is fun, danceable, lighthearted and isn’t too challenging but it’s well put together and it’s worth a whirl if you like a bit of pop, with a twist of indie.
The opening track Our Own House will definitely get you in a good mood. It’s a catchy upbeat, pop tune – perfect for chores, cooking dinner and generally getting in the weekend swing.
