The news that Twin Peaks is coming back has caused a little excitement in this neck of the woods.
Twin Peaks created so much intrigue for me when it came out. I can’t believe it was nearly 25 years ago. I still remember how utterly hooked on this show I was and the anticipation every week was palpable. I loved everything about it. The solitude, the macabre, the creepy Red Room, the all out strangeness of it was captivating. Audrey Horne was the demurely cool girl, Agent Cooper’s dialogue was oddly compelling and the haunting music from Angelo Badalamenti set the scene. I wanted to taste black coffee and cherry pie and go and live in a wintery town. And it really felt like it was a completely different entrant into the sanitised world of TV back then when everything was just so straight. It paved the way for a whole new world of more interesting TV.
Apparently the old team will be back. David Lynch will be directing and cowriting with Mark Frost. Kyle MacLachlan will be reprising his role as Agent Dale Cooper but the nine episode series will be set in the present. Just hearing the music again takes me right back …
I wonder if it will still seem relevant or compelling?
Twin Peaks was a trail blazer. I’m guessing with Kyle reprising his role, viewers will be hooked.
Pass the cherry pie and yes, I’ll take a refill.

Yes I have been reminiscing a lot with this news. I wonder what it will be like though? It’s hard to imagine it being better than the original but fingers crossed.
